Christmas
As we continue to move through the Advent season, be encouraged by the truth of Luke 2:10-11. “But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
We are celebrating the good news of Christ at WCGS and are so grateful for the gift of our Savior.

Christmas 2025
What a joy it has been to celebrate this beautiful season of Advent with your children these past 2 weeks…and I can’t wait for what next week will hold! I wish that you could be in our building daily to see what is taking place – music concerts, Christmas stories being read in classrooms, Advent devotionals, special times of prayer, and service opportunities, just to name a few! I believe our students have gained a much deeper appreciation for the special gift that was given to us of our Savior. As we celebrate this Christmas, it is our hope that each of us will fall more in love with Jesus and appreciate more deeply what we have in and through Him.
Pick-Up During Cold Weather
Overall, things have been operating smoothly with our traffic before and after school. Thank you for your patience and adherence to our guidelines. I know that with the colder weather upon us, being able to pick up your child right away after school is important. Since more parents are remaining in their vehicles and trying to pick their children up in the pick-up lane (the lane closest to the curb), there has been a backup that occurs for about the first 5 minutes after the bell rings at the end of the day. After those five minutes, things seem to open up. Given the volume of cars, I don’t expect it to go away completely, but if you are concerned about getting to your child immediately after the bell rings, I would encourage you to get to school a few minutes early and park in a parking space. This will allow your child to meet you at a designated location, or allow you to meet them at the nearest crosswalk as soon as they exit the building.
The three other most critical items to help with our traffic flow after school are below:
- Pull around. Although you may have arrived at school early to get a prime spot right near the crosswalk, we need the inner lane of traffic to continuously be moving. If your child does not come out of the building a few minutes after the bell rings, please pull into the middle lane and do a lap around campus so that others can move forward.
- Pull forward. If you see space in front of your vehicle, please pull forward so that we can get as many cars in the inner lane as possible.
- Only pick up in the inner lane. Please do not stop in the middle lane of traffic and have your students load into the vehicle. Not only does this create a backup in the middle lane, but it is also extremely dangerous for your children.
Again, thank you so much for your help as we strive to be both efficient and safe with our traffic pattern.
Christmas Spirit Week (December 15-19)
We are planning on having some fun Christmas dress-up days as a WCGS community during our final week of school before break. To help you plan accordingly, please reference the schedule below. The appearance code will be relaxed to accommodate these special days, but modesty guidelines still apply in all situations. It is acceptable for students to dress down and wear casual clothing with their Christmas spirit items during this week as long as it fits with the theme of that day. We look forward to seeing all of the creativity that week!

Notable Notes
Free HDMI Cables!
Due to the extensive re-wiring we did over the summer, we have a plethora of HDMI cables that need a home (rather than in the tech trash heap). There are lengths ranging from 12’ to 25’. Feel free to take as many as you need! They are great for connecting that new TV you are getting for Christmas especially when the box says, “HDMI cable not included.” Stop by the front desk to grab what you need.
Planning a Trip?
If your family is planning a trip that will cause them to miss a day or a few days from a school, please be sure to communicate this to school ASAP by submitting a Pre-Arranged Absence Form. You can use the online form through the FACTS Family Portal, or grab a printed hard copy from the front office. Pre-Arranged Absence Forms should be submitted to the office as soon as plans are made. Please do not request schoolwork unless you intend to have your student complete it during your holiday. For more information regarding our Attendance Policy, please refer to page 9 of the Parent Handbook.
