The WCGS Experience

A wholistic approach to learning

When you walk through the doors of our campus, we believe you’ll feel the strong sense of a nurturing community that school parents have found here for the past 80 years. You’ll see classrooms and common spaces, leading-edge technology that helps our students excel, and best of all, you’ll meet the team members who have made this an acclaimed and respected Christian school throughout the Chicago area and around the nation. WCGS is a place where students thrive.

Blue Ribbon School

We are honored to be named a U.S Department of Education 2017 Blue Ribbon School as it is the highest award a school can receive in recognition of their exemplary high performance. The award is granted for renewal every 5 years.

STEAM+

In addition to engineering-focused exploration, STEAM instruction engages recycling, composting, and urban and rural gardening. WCGS has been named a U.S. Department of Education 2021 Green Ribbon School for our mission and vision to increase sustainability.

Service

We foster a community who’s impact goes far beyond the walls of our building. Our students can be found engaging with non-profit ministries both locally and globally. It is our prayer that students are eager, emboldened, and equipped to bring the hope and joy of the Gospel to the world.

Leadership Development

The best example we have on how to lead is Jesus’ life and ministry given to us in scripture. We provide students opportunities to grow in Christ-like leadership through the study of scripture, various extra curriculars, weekly chapels, and class projects.

Athletics & fine arts

Thriving inside and outside of the classroom

Our students enjoy a plethora of extra curricular activities. From athletics, and fine arts, to robotics club and student council, there is a place for your child to flourish here!

“One spiritual highlight was hearing our 5th grader recite her memorized scripture from Isaiah as we neared Christmas break, then watching her light up as our pastor read from the same verses at our Christmas Eve service. She whispered to all of us, “I know these verses! This is what we memorized at school!” That connection between what she is hearing at church and getting reinforced during the week at school is invaluable.”

“I really didn’t know how much a community could change you until Wheaton Christian. I switched to this school in third grade where I was immediately met by one of the best teachers. I also was surrounded by classmates that spurred me on, which I was not used to. It was all a big change for me. I could see it in the little things like how kind people were to each other on the playground and how much the teachers truly cared for you. I had entered into a community that would change my life, and is still changing my life to this day.”

“Performing the role of Mary Poppins could have been overwhelming and intimidating, but the directors reminded me that I was ultimately performing for the Lord, which helped me get into a good mindset. During this experience, I learned to trust God with the plan He has for me, as I could see all that He had done to prepare and equip me for being a part of this show.”

“What I most appreciated was the way the Bible was integrated into every subject. No matter if it was a math lesson on Geometry or an English paper about a book we read, the teachers always found a way to give us a biblical truth at the same time. My teachers challenged us spiritually in our walk with the Lord.”

“I am pursuing a career in science and medicine because I love asking questions and I love to investigate things I don’t know. My teachers at WCGS offered a supportive environment for me to be curious and to develop a love of learning more about God’s creation.”

“Being a part of this year’s musical has taught me a lot about encouragement, leadership and getting out of my comfort zone. I have learned that applying hard work to a tough task can bring a ton of joy and really bond people together. I was reminded that through all tasks easy and hard, the Lord is always with us guiding and protecting.”

“I am continually amazed at the rich blessing WCGS has been to our family – far beyond what I would have imagined when we applied to send our daughter her 6th grade year. The relationships with teachers, discipleship through Connect Groups, coaches, musicals, and friendships have enveloped my children in a rich community of Christian fellowship that has strengthened their faith, enhanced their learning, and matured them. We are forever grateful to God for the excellent work at WCGS.”
