WCGS Student gave the Friday Forecast on WGN

On Friday mornings, elementary students have an opportunity to join Mike Janssen, Meteorologist, on the WGN Morning News as part of the Friday Forecaster Program. The student presents the weather forecast during the 6 o’clock hour.  WGN partners with schools that are part of the WeatherBug network. Part of their forecast includes giving the current conditions from the WeatherBug station for their school. Our very own Nathan Novak, a current 3rd grade student at WCGS, was selected and made his debut on WGN on Friday, May 24, 2024

Nathan and his family woke up bright and early to drive to WGN in Chicago and have Nathan learn how to share the forecast on live television! Mike Janssen shared, “Nathan admitted to being nervous, but as you can see in his forecast, he didn’t show it.”

3rd Grade curriculum at WCGS  has two units that educate students on weather, so this was a great real-life application for Nathan! We are so proud of him and his presentation skills on WGN!
