See You at the Pole
SYATP is Wednesday, September 24, at 8:00 a.m. Our eighth graders are planning and organizing this school-wide prayer time. There will be singing, large group prayer times, and small group prayer times by grade level. See You at the Pole is a student-initiated and student-led movement that started in Burleson, Texas, in 1990. SYATP brings students to their school flag poles to intercede for their leaders, schools, and families, asking God to bring moral and spiritual awakening to their campuses and countries. Faculty and parents will gather around the students at the flagpole in the front of the school. Parents who drive by the front of the school need to drive slowly and carefully. We will have 1-2 lanes blocked off to make room by our flagpole for those praying. We hope to see you there!
Coming soon! Scholarship Auction and Trivia Night
With great anticipation, we are excited to announce the Scholarship Auction and Trivia Night on Friday, November 14!
If you missed the fun last year, you’ll want to be sure to attend this year! Watch for your invitation, but in the meantime, think about what you might contribute to this year’s silent auction to make it a success. Here are just a few ideas!
- Tickets to sports events or concerts are always popular items!
- Have a craft? Sewing, knitting, pottery, cooking/baking, woodworking, homemade games or toys, etc. People love handcrafted items or…consider giving a lesson in your craft.
- Getaways! Have a vacation home, timeshare or Airbnb you can donate?
- Business services. Accounting, Carpentry, Dental, Financial Counseling, Home Design Services, Housecleaning, Music or Dance Lessons, the list is endless! Not sure? Just ask!
- Other ideas? We would love to hear them! Contact Shannon McDonald, Development Coordinator: smcdonald@wheatonchristian.org
Nothing to donate? We would still love for EVERYONE to come and enjoy a great dinner and dessert (no charge!), browse the auction items, enjoy music from our students, and have some Trivia fun! You might also find great auction items to bid on! All funds benefit the Scholarship Fund… a great cause because you are providing tuition assistance for children who might otherwise not be able to receive a Christ-centered education.

Nurse Notes
Reminders from the Nurses’ Office
- We have recently made some updates to our website. Please go to Current Parents, then medical requirement/updates, if you are wondering if you should send your student to school or not. Medical Information – Wheaton Christian
- Listed on our website are all the required forms and what is needed each year. It is never too early to schedule your child’s physical for sports or 6th grade!
- We have added two new nurses to our team! When emailing an illness, or doctors note, please email nurse@wheatonchristian.org so that it is seen by all three nurses and is not missed due to a nurse not working that day.
- Now is a great time to check your student’s backpack to make sure they have what they need each day. Putting some extra snacks and a change of clothes in there is a great idea. Sometimes kids will eat most of their lunch at snack time and not have much food left for lunch. The nurses’ office keeps extra clothes for times in need, but we do not have every size, and some kids really prefer their own clothes. Extra socks are a great idea, because our little (and big) friends love the puddles at recess and wet socks are no fun!
Notable Notes
Fathers’ Prayer Breakfast
On Saturday, September 27, we will host our Fathers’ Prayer Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. in the Commons here at school. Whether you have attended before or this is your first time, we look forward to sharing a meal, hearing a devotional, and praying together as fathers in the WCGS community. It is a rich time and one that I hope you will consider joining. We will respect your time and dismiss by 8:30 a.m. so that you can continue on with your weekend. If you can attend on September 27, please RSVP to Lauren Fortosis by Monday, September 22, to help with breakfast planning. We hope to see you there!
School Pictures are Ready! 📸
You should have received an email from “Jostens School Photography” with ordering instructions. If you haven’t seen the email, try searching for the following subject: “Photos of (your students name) are ready!”. Using the link from the email will be the easiest way for you to access your gallery and order your pictures. You will also be able to sign up for retakes through the site. Photos are shipped directly to your home. Class composites will be available to view and purchase after retakes. If you cannot find the email, please contact Christine Sheetz.
Picture Retakes on Friday, October 10
- IF YOUR CHILD WAS ABSENT ON PICTURE DAY… he/she has been automatically added to our retake list, which will take place during normal school hours on October 10. No need to do anything further.
- IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY WITH HOW PICTURES TURNED OUT…you have the option to sign up for retakes on the JostensPIX website. Be warned that the retake will be the picture that is used for the yearbook. (While you have the option to select which pose you would like to purchase, yearbook poses are selected by Jostens). To sign up, look for the link at the top right of the JostensPIX site that reads “SIGN UP FOR RETAKES,” and your student will be added to the list.

Share Your Story – Celebrate God’s Faithfulness!
We believe that every family in our school community has a unique story of how God led them to WCGS — and we want to celebrate that together! Please consider taking 5 minutes to fill out a short survey (option to be anonymous) to share how you were led by God to enroll your students at Wheaton Christian Grammar School. Your testimony could be a powerful encouragement to others and a beautiful reminder of His faithfulness at work in our midst.

IESA State Boys’ Golf Tournament
We had a wonderful day in Metamora, IL this past Friday. Lucas Burkhart and Parker Schaubroeck, both seventh graders, represented you well as they competed with 92 other boys in the State Tournament. We are excited to share that Lucas shot an even par 71 to tie for third and made All-State (top 10 finishers). He was the lowest scoring seventh grader in the tournament. The winning score was a one under 70. Some great golf was played. We want to congratulate Parker who qualified for State for the first time. Just like Lucas, Parker gained invaluable experience playing at the State level. We are hopeful that both boys, along with their golf teammates, will be able to advance to the State Tournament next September. Please take time to congratulate these young men on a great showing at State. We are proud of them. Go Spartans!
