Veterans Day

We are honored to celebrate Veterans Day on November 11 and are so appreciative of the many who have served for our freedom. This day marks the opportunity to pause and honor those who have sacrificed on behalf of others. On Tuesday at 9:00 a.m., our community will gather for a morning assembly int the gym to ensure our students are able to thank our veterans and be educated on what their service has provided. Parents are also welcome to attend. Thank you to all who have served!

NEXT WEEK! Scholarship Auction & Trivia Night – November 14, 6:30 p.m.

Ready for an evening of fun, fellowship, and friendly competition – all to support Christ-centered education at WCGS? We are just one week away from our Scholarship Auction & Trivia Night on November 14!

Online bidding opens THIS Saturday, November 8! There is an INCREDIBLE lineup of auction items – trips, experiences, services, amazing gift baskets – truly something for everyone! Even if you can’t attend in person, you can still join the fun, bid online, and make a meaningful impact. Don’t miss your chance to support WCGS and win some amazing finds!

No need to stress about what to wear! Dress code is casual with a touch of twang (if desired). Think (but don’t overthink) denim, vibrant hues, and southern charm. Boots are welcome (not required).

Limited seat remains! RSVP now to secure your spot for dinner, trivia, and a night celebrating God’s goodness together. Whether you come with friends or ready to meet new people, your participation – online or in person – helps make Christ-centered education available.

Nurse Notes

Changing Seasons

As the seasons change, we often see a change in illnesses as well. Right now, the county is seeing both influenza A and B. If your child has a persistent cough that is not getting better or is associated with fevers, it is a good idea to take them into your doctor for evaluation. Once their cough is controlled, and they are fever free for 24 hours they may return to school. Please feel free to email nurse@wheatonchristian.org if you ever have a question about your child returning to school after illness.

Now is also a great time to make sure your student has a coat, hat, and gloves. Recess is always outside unless it is bitter cold or raining. Having a change of clothes is also a great idea, especially pants and socks! Our students love to find the one puddle or patch of mud 😍

Adventure Book Fair Contest—Entries Due Monday, November 10

Students have two options to enter this year’s book fair contest where they can win a gift certificate to the book fair. All the details are in the attached flyer, and the deadline is November 10. Teacher voting will take place from November 11-14, and winners will be announced on Monday, November 17. Book Faith Contest Instructions.

Other Important Information:

Class visits to the Book Fair: All K-5 classes will come through the fair during their regular library time from Wednesday, November 19 through Monday, November 24. Tuesday library classes and grades 6-8 will be told the time of their book fair visit by their teachers. When students come to the fair, they will be able to shop at that time if you send them with cash, OR they can make a wish list and shop with you during other open hours. You are, of course, welcome to come sooner than their library day during the before and after-school hours.

Library Book Checkout: Students will not come to the library with their classes during the week of the book fair, but we will advertise shorter open hours when students can get new books if they need to. No books will be due during the book fair.

Teacher Wish Lists: Buy a book for your teacher’s classroom library! Teachers will be making wish lists of items that they would like to add to their collections, so be on the lookout for that when you visit the fair.

Pumpkin Smash

Don’t Trash it, Smash it! The Pumpkin Smash is an annual effort by communities to divert pumpkins from landfills by providing locations for residents to drop off jack-o-lanterns to be composted. SCARCE and the cities of Wheaton, Warrenville, West Chicago, and many more are hosting events this Saturday, November 8 from 9am-12pm. Check out this website for exact locations: Pumpkin Smash – SCARCEComposting is God’s design for vegetables and fruits to decompose and create useful, nutrient-dense soil. Did you know that pumpkins are 90% water which is great for our soil?

Marketing Specialist Position

We are deeply grateful for the outstanding contributions of our Marketing Specialist, Ingrid Seager, who has brought creativity, dedication, and enthusiasm to her role. As Ingrid prepares to welcome her first child, she will be stepping away from her role in December. We celebrate this exciting new chapter in her life and wish her the very best. If you know of anyone interested in pursuing the Marketing Specialist position, please see our webpage for more information.

Lost and Found

All of the Lost and Found items are laid out in the front hallway. The items will be on display through the end of Parent-Teacher Conferences. Following conferences, everything will be donated. Please come in and take a look! These items are all of elementary and junior high combined. Thank you for your help!
*PLEASE NOTE: When not on display in the front hallway, the lost and found can be found in the Commons (lunchroom), on the right-hand side, nearest to the doors.
