Honoring Our Veterans

We had the remarkable privilege of hosting our 18th Veterans Day Observance at WCGS with our student body. Veterans Day is a time to honor and thank those who are serving in the Armed Forces, as well as remember those who have gone before us. We have chosen as a school to be intentional about saying thank you to the Lord and to the men and women who have served and continue to serve in our military. Many have fought and made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the freedoms that we enjoy today. Those freedoms allow us to gather and to enjoy the benefits of a Christian education. We want to encourage our students to always be thankful for freedom. We enjoy it, but it has come at a great cost.

We were privileged to have school grandparent (father of Rachel Brooke), Dr. Al Keating, as our speaker, who shared with us about the sacrifice and service that is involved in the military journey, and his dependence on the Lord through it all. We enjoyed hearing from our Concert Band and Orchestra, and a variety of other students who played an important role in our assembly. Several students had the opportunity to introduce us to our guests of honor – the veterans in their family who were able to attend the assembly in person!

One special part of our program was being able to show a tribute video to honor all the veterans in our school community. This video includes the pictures that were submitted by many of our school families. We invite you to enjoy it by clicking on the linked picture below:

On behalf of our team here at WCGS, thank you to all veterans and their families. We are incredibly grateful to all who have served!
