Class of 2022 Commencement

Yesterday evening, the WCGS community gathered for Commencement to celebrate the WCGS graduating Class of 2022! Students have joined WCGS at various grade levels over the years, and whether they have been here for all nine years or just a few, we are confident that God has used WCGS, God’s school, to build a foundation of faith in their lives.

Multiple 8th grade students shared about their time at WCGS and how they have been shaped during their time here. They shared personal testimonies, favorite passages of scripture that have encouraged and challenged them, and shared words of gratitude for the community that has nurtured them academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. To express their gratitude to this school community, the 8th grade class excitedly presented their class gift, three picnic tables to add to the patio area outside of the Jr. High wing.

There were beautiful vocal and instrumental ensembles performed by the students before welcoming Mr. Roger Burgess, Vice Principal of Spiritual Life and School Counselor, to share the Commencement address. Roger is concluding his time at WCGS this year after 48 years of work and service to this school, and students enjoyed recognizing him as a “fellow 2022 graduate!”

Mr. Burgess passionately encouraged students with three points, points he prayed they would know all of the days of their lives. The first was that they would know God’s Word as ultimate truth. He petitioned the students to “Let God transform your life through the Book!” The second was that they may know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Mr. Burgess questioned, “Do you know the Name? Your spiritual life or death depends upon your answer.” The saving name of Jesus is the most powerful name we will ever know! And third, that they may know God’s unconditional love for them. Mr. Burgess affirmed to the Graduates, “ God loves you so much! There is nothing you can do to make God love you more, and there is nothing you can do to make Him love you less. Never doubt God’s love for you!”

We are so proud of you, Class of 2022. May you always know God’s word, be in relationship with Him, and know how great His love is for you!
