An Exciting New Event!

It’s not just an auction, it’s TRIVIA too!  Join us for food, friends, silent auction, and Trivia.   Attendees will be able to browse items, bid, enjoy great entertainment from our own students, while enjoying a catered dinner by MyChef Catering, and play Trivia.  Sign-up your team of 6 to 8, or just come and we will place you with a team.   Great way to meet new people and NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

Pre-registration and sponsor sign-up are open now!

Some FAQ’s:

Habits of the Household – We’ve saved a seat for you next Tuesday, October 3!

There is still time and space to register for this event. “The greatest spiritual work happens in the normal moments of domestic life.” Do you agree? Author, speaker, and lawyer Justin Whitmel Earley believes parenting happens in habits and out of ordinary routines where we encounter extraordinary opportunities to live out the love of God in profound ways.  Join us on Tuesday, October 3, from 6:30-7:45 p.m. in the library, as we unpack this question and talk through specific ways to cultivate a missional home where each family member can practice the story of God in new habits and intentional rhythms around everyday routines such as waking, mealtimes, discipline, work, play, and conversations.  Click here to register. We will be giving away two copies of the book, Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel EarleyMandy Jasper, WCGS Social Worker and Eric Johnson, WCGS Sixth Grade Teacher, will be facilitating the event.  Questions about the WCGS Parent Series?  Email Sue Macaluso at smacaluso@wheatonchristian.org

Wheaton Academy Parent Event

As part of the WCGS Parent Series, we invite you to save the date for Tuesday, November 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the Wheaton Academy Fine Arts Center to hear Alisa Childers. How can we help equip our kids to have a Christian worldview in an increasingly secularized culture? Join us on November 14 to hear from author, singer, and apologist Alisa Childers. She will share tips about how Christian parents can teach their kids discernment by exposing them to bad ideas in an age-appropriate manner and teaching them to analyze media from a biblical perspective. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Please use this link to secure your registration.

Notable Notes

Crossing Guards Wanted!

Many of you have seen Mr. Koslosky helping each morning along Coventry Drive.  Since District 200 has changed to an earlier start time this year, we want to partner with our neighbors to help ensure their kids can safely walk to and from school.  WCGS is hoping to hire several crossing guards for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal, and we need your help to find the right people for the job! We are looking for kind and conscientious individuals with great interpersonal skills to interact with our families and broader community.  If you or someone you know would be interested in this position, you can find out more by filling out the application on our website: WCGS Crossing Guard Application.

Admissions for 2024-2025

It is a joy to welcome siblings of our current students to WCGS, whether entering kindergarten or an upper grade. Applications are open now for the 2024-2025 school year for all grades K-8. Due to our current enrollment and high level of interest from prospective families, all applications from current families for new incoming students must be received by Saturday, September 30, for priority consideration. The Application for Admission can be accessed in FACTS Family Portal under the Apply/Enroll tab. Please email Kim Norbeck with any questions or to schedule a visit for your incoming student.

Last Chance to sign up for Picture Retakes!

RETAKE DATE: Friday, October 6

Retake day is coming! If your child was absent on picture day, they have been automatically added to our retake list, which will take place during normal school hours on October 6. No need to do anything further. If your child was here but you are unhappy with how pictures turned out, sign them up for retakes through the JostensPIX website. Be warned that the retake will be the picture that is used for the yearbook. (While you have the option to select which pose you would like to purchase, yearbook poses are selected by JostensPIX). To sign up, look for the link at the top right of the JostensPIX site that reads “SIGN UP FOR RETAKES,” and your student will be added to the list.

Reminder: You can access your account to preview and order pictures through the “YOUR PICTURES ARE READY” email you received to the email address WCGS has on file for you (be sure to check your junk folder). If you have not seen the email come through, you can also access your student’s photos online at JostensPIX using EVENT CODE: FE164523. Photos are shipped directly to your home. Class composites will be available to view and purchase after retakes.

Community Corner

Prepare the Table Benefit Concert

Join us Saturday, October 14, for an evening of worship to benefit Naomi’s House, a ministry geared toward hope, healing, and restoration for women exploited through sex trafficking. The evening will explore themes of hospitality in worship and how we can offer our gifts to serve others and invite them to have a seat at the Table that Jesus has prepared for us!
