We HOPE you will join in the fun!

We are very excited about our upcoming HOPE Scholarship Auction on Friday, November 10, and we have already received some great items!  Of course, we are still accepting more over the next few weeks.  If you need some ideas, here are some items to consider donating:

·         Tickets to sports events or concerts are always popular items!

·         Have a craft?  Sewing, knitting, pottery, cooking/baking, woodworking, homemade games or toys, etc.  People love handcrafted items or–consider giving a lesson in your craft!

·         Business services.  Accounting, carpentry, dental, financial counseling, home design services, housecleaning, music or dance lessons, the list is endless!  Not sure?  Just ask!

·         Getaways!  Have a vacation home, timeshare or Airbnb you can donate?

·         Other ideas?  We would love to hear them!  Contact Joanne DeGroot.

It takes a lot of people to make the Scholarship Benefit Auction a success, and whether you have something to donate or not, we would love for EVERYONE to come and enjoy a great dinner and dessert (no charge!), browse the auction items, enjoy music from our students, and you might even find something to bid on in the silent auction.  It’s all to help raise funds for tuition assistance!

And let’s not forget the TRIVIA!  Whether you want to sign up as a team or just come and participate we would love to have you join and NO experience is necessary!

For more information contact Joanne DeGroot and don’t forget to RSVP(Adults only, please!)

Continuing the Discussion

Wheaton Academy Parent Event

As part of the WCGS Parent Series, we invite you to save the date for Tuesday, November 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the Wheaton Academy Fine Arts Center to hear Alisa Childers. How can we help equip our kids to have a Christian worldview in an increasingly secularized culture? Join us on November 14 to hear from author, singer, and apologist Alisa Childers. She will share tips about how Christian parents can teach their kids discernment by exposing them to bad ideas in an age-appropriate manner and teaching them to analyze media from a biblical perspective. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Please use this link to secure your registration.

The Peculiar People Blue Robotics Team would appreciate your help in completing this 2-minute survey to help with their innovation project: Public Performance Survey. Thank you!

Calling All Parents Who Work in STEAM Fields

WCGS will have our third STEAM FAMILY FAIR on Tuesday, February 6, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  If you have a passion and expertise in STEAM related areas, would you be willing to host a table, demonstration, or interactive activity? Families would attend representing children in ages from kindergarten through eighth grade. Please email Jacqueline Lauriat if you are interested in participating.

LEGOS, LEGOS, Magna-tiles

The STEAM Lab is always accepting LEGO bricks and Magna-tiles for our K-8 students, Junior High Exploratories, and LEGO Masters Build Competition. We are looking for any type of LEGOs, LEGO sets, or Magna-tiles that people no longer want. If you are willing to donate, please drop them off in the STEAM Lab, Room 607, or drop them off in the office to be delivered to Jacqueline Lauriat. Thank you!

Notable Notes

Crossing Guards Wanted!

Many of you have seen Mr. Koslosky helping each morning along Coventry Drive.  Since District 200 has changed to an earlier start time this year, we want to partner with our neighbors to help ensure their kids can safely walk to and from school.  WCGS is hoping to hire several crossing guards for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal, and we need your help to find the right people for the job! We are looking for kind and conscientious individuals with great interpersonal skills to interact with our families and broader community.  If you or someone you know would be interested in this position, you can find out more by filling out the application on our website: WCGS Crossing Guard Application.

Picture Retakes Tomorrow, Friday October 6

If your child was absent on picture day, they have been automatically added to our retake list, which will take place during normal school hours tomorrow, October 6. No need to do anything further. If your child was here but you are unhappy with how pictures turned out, tonight is your last sign them up for retakes through the JostensPIX website. Be warned that the retake will be the picture that is used for the yearbook. (While you have the option to select which pose you would like to purchase, yearbook poses are selected by JostensPIX). To sign up, look for the link at the top right of the JostensPIX site that reads “SIGN UP FOR RETAKES,” and your student will be added to the list.

Reminder: You can access your account to preview and order pictures through the “YOUR PICTURES ARE READY” email you received to the email address WCGS has on file for you (be sure to check your junk folder). If you have not seen the email come through, you can also access your student’s photos online at JostensPIX using EVENT CODE: FE164523. Photos are shipped directly to your home. Class composites will be available to view and purchase after retakes.
