HOPE Scholarship Auction

REMEMBER TO RSVP for the HOPE Scholarship Auction on November 10 at 6:30 p.m. There is still room! Enjoy a buffet dinner and desserts from MyChef while you browse the auction items, bid on your favorites, and hear some great music from our students! The fun doesn’t stop there because, for the first time ever, we will be having a team trivia game! We are all looking forward to a delightful evening, especially with all of you, our valued WCGS community!

Here are a few reminders:

  • Auction will open on Saturday, November 4. You will be sent a link so you can register and begin bidding!
  • There is absolutely no charge to attend the dinner and program on Friday, November 10.
  • If you are unable to attend, you can still bid on auction items, but we do encourage you to be there in person and experience all the night has to offer.

Last call for Auction Item donations!   Contact: jdegroot@wheatonchristian.org.

Veterans Day Assembly

We look forward to honoring the veterans in our school community each year at our annual Veterans Day Assembly! This all-school assembly will be taking place in the gym on Friday, November 10, at 9:00 a.m. We encourage any student with a family member who IS or HAS BEEN a member of the Armed Forces to bring their veteran to school (in uniform if possible) to be honored and introduced. Our guests of honor and their families will have a reserved seating section that is easily accessible. If you have a veteran who can attend, use the following link to RSVP: RSVP FOR VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY

If you have a veteran in your family who is not able to attend, we’d still love to honor them by showing their picture in a slide show that students will see during the program! Use the following link to let us know if you’d like a picture included (even if it’s the same one you’ve used in previous years): VETERAN PICTURE SUBMISSION

Please submit RSVP and/or veteran pictures by Friday, November 3.

Report Cards and MAP Results

As I referenced last week in Thursday Notes, first quarter report cards will be sent electronically to parents at around 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, October 27. MAP Growth Assessment results will also be sent home tomorrow with your child in an envelope. Please be looking for this information. There will be a letter inside the envelope explaining more about the data, so please take time to read it prior to reviewing the results. We felt it was important to get you these results on the same day as the report card since the MAP results are just one piece of information about your child as a learner.

Wheaton Academy Parent Event

As part of the WCGS Parent Series, we invite you to save the date for Tuesday, November 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the Wheaton Academy Fine Arts Center to hear Alisa Childers. How can we help equip our kids to have a Christian worldview in an increasingly secularized culture? Join us on November 14 to hear from author, singer, and apologist Alisa Childers. She will share tips about how Christian parents can teach their kids discernment by exposing them to bad ideas in an age-appropriate manner and teaching them to analyze media from a biblical perspective. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Please use this link to secure your registration.

Book Fair Contest

It’s hard to believe, but this year’s book fair is less than three weeks away! It will begin on November 15, and you will be getting more information about it soon. We are starting our traditional book fair contest early so that winners will know about their gift cards and prizes before the start of the fair. The theme for this year is an ocean expedition, and you can find all the details about the contest here. Materials are available now in the library, and contest entries can be turned in beginning today. They are due on Monday, November 6. STEAM+ NotesCalling All Parents Who Work in STEAM Fields WCGS will have our third STEAM FAMILY FAIR on Tuesday, February 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  If you have a passion and expertise in STEAM related areas, would you be willing to host a table, demonstration, or interactive activity? Families would attend representing children in ages from kindergarten through eighth grade. Please email Jacqueline Lauriat if you are interested in participating.

Notable Notes

Fathers’ Prayer Breakfast

On Saturday, November 18, we will host our Fathers’ Prayer Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. in the Commons here at school. It is a rich time and one that I hope you will consider joining. We will respect your time and dismiss by 8:30 a.m. so that you can continue on with your weekend. If you are able to attend on November 18, please RSVP to Lauren Fortosis by Monday, November 13, to help with breakfast planning.
