Discipling for the Long Run: Equipping Lifelong Followers of Jesus

Please join us for our next WCGS Parent Series event on Tuesday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. We welcome Rev. Jon Nielsen (WCGS dad), who will be presenting, Discipleship for the Long Run: Equipping Lifelong Followers of Jesus.  This evening will seek to equip Christian parents with some practical tools for discipling their kids, with an eye toward lasting love for Jesus, engagement with God’s Word, and involvement in the local church.  Light refreshments will be provided, and registration is requested by March 6.  Sign up here if you plan to attend. If you have questions for Jon which you would like answered that evening, please email Mandy Jasper.

100th Fathers’ Prayer Breakfast

On Saturday, March 14, we will be celebrating our 100th Fathers’ Prayer Breakfast. This event honors the faithful prayer warriors who have lifted WCGS and our community up in prayer over the years. We look forward to praying together as men and hearing how prayer has shaped the culture of WCGS for years. Fathers, please plan to join us that day from 7:30-8:30 a.m. RSVP to Lauren Fortosis if you plan to attend.

Traffic Thank You!

I wanted to include a brief note of gratitude for how people have responded this week following my email about traffic reminders on Monday.  I saw great improvement in several of the areas this week, and it certainly made for a smoother and safer traffic flow over the last several days.  Thank you and keep it up!

Missions Month

As you hopefully saw in Mr. Simon’s email yesterday, we are looking forward to celebrating our Missions Emphasis during the entire month of March!  In previous years, we made it a 2-week focus, but we are expanding it to the entire month to allow for additional conversations, speakers, activities, and service opportunities during the month of March. There are a couple changes to the calendar to note: There will be no kick-off chapel on Monday, March 9, as we will be launching “Missions Month” in the classrooms instead the week before that.  However, we will have our Missions Celebration Chapel, but it will take place on Wednesday, March 25, from 9:45-10:25 for grades K-3 and 10:45-11:25 for grades 4-8.  We look forward to seeing all that the Lord is going to do next month!

Nurse News

Spring Sports Reminders

If your student plans to participate in a spring sport they must have a current physical on file in the nurses’ office. A physical is good for 395 days. If you have not submitted one, your student will not be able to participate. Please email nurse@wheatonchristian.org if you are unsure if your student needs an updated physical.

In addition to a physical there are two required forms that must be filled out online for your athlete to participate – a concussion form and a travel permission form. These forms are in FACTS Family Portal located in web forms.

Ladies’ Salad Social

We would be delighted for all WCGS ladies to join us for an unforgettable evening filled with worship, fellowship, salads, and desserts at this year’s Ladies’ Salad Social. Our theme for this year’s event is, Jesus Christ: Our Anchor, from Hebrews 6:19. We will hear from our speaker, Angelica Perry, a current WCGS parent. She has a passion for sharing God’s Word with women, and we look forward to hearing from her as she encourages us to lean on our sure and steadfast anchor. Moms, grandmas, faculty, and staff are all welcome! Please feel free to invite a friend or simply come to enjoy an evening with other women within our WCGS community. Registration closes today, so please register now for this beloved annual event.
