Dental Forms Due This Spring

If you have a current kindergartner, 2nd grader, and/or 6th grader, their current dental exams for the school year are due no later than Friday, May 10. Please turn these forms into the front office or email them to Danette Farrell.

Give Kids A Smile Day

The DuPage County Health Department is joining the American Dental Association in the observance of “Give Kids a Smile Day” on Friday, March 1. Dental screenings will be done by DuPage County Health Department dentists. See more details on this flyer to make an appointment.

 

STEAM+ Notes

Congratulations to WCGS’s BLUE Robotics Team!

The Peculiar People BLUE Team competed with 57 teams this past Saturday, February 17, at Elgin Community College in the FIRST LEGO LEAGUE state tournament, First in Show Masterpiece. Teams presented innovation projects on hobbies that promote the arts and competed running their robot through 15 missions/challenges on the robot game board. The BLUE team won the 1st place trophy for their outstanding work on the Innovation Project and scored 350 points on the robot table.  The Peculiar People BLUE Team (coached by Mrs. Lauriat and Mrs. Linhardt) is comprised of the following team members: Noah de Castro, Emmie Hepburn, Zoe Johnston, Emilie Lauriat, Alex Lenhardt, Maya Lenhardt, Graham Miglio, Ethan Wilding, and Isabel Wilding. Congratulations to these students on their hard work and achievement!

STEAM+ CLUB for Grades 1-3

Students in Grades 1-3 will engage in STEAM related activities that explore Newton’s law of motion, complete design challenges, code robots, and learn to work on a team to accomplish a goal. This 5-week club will meet on Tuesdays from 3:25-4:45 p.m. in the STEAM+ Lab. There will be two sessions offered to allow more students to participate.

Session 1: February 27-April 2

Session 2: April 9-May 7

To sign up for the club, please fill out this registration form. If you have any questions, email Mrs. Jacqueline Lauriat. The club fee is $60 which will be charged to your account. Maximum 24 students.

STEAM+ CLUB for Grades 4-8

This innovative club for Grades 4-8 students presents a hands-on, interactive opportunity that captivates students’ interest in science and technology as they master the dynamics of teamwork and problem-solving. Students will work on their creativity, curiosity, communication, and collaboration skills as they build, code, and test a Spike Prime or EV3 robot. The 5-week club will meet on Thursdays from 3:25-4:45 p.m. in the STEAM+ Lab. There will be two sessions offered to allow more students to participate.

Session 1: February 29, March 7-21, April 4
Session 2: April 11-May 9

Prospective Family Visit Day

Prospective families are invited to visit and tour WCGS on Wednesday, February 28, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. to explore WCGS and consider if it could be the right fit for their family! Here’s the link to RSVP.

WCGS Fine Arts Camp

Spotlight on Disney is this year’s theme for the WCGS Fine Arts Camp. Come join us for a weeklong adventure as we turn the spotlight on the magical music and stories of Disney. This week of camp will be filled with the characters, songs, and familiar tales from Disney’s films and stage. Your child will be able to experience artistry and creativity through engaging classes in Art, Dance, Drama, and Music. Our students will create art projects, be in dramatic skits, dance to their favorite Disney music, and sing familiar songs for the audience at the Friday night variety show. Each student will receive a camp T-shirt and a daily mid-morning snack. (Please note any food allergies on the registration form.) Brochures can be found here or in the school office and will be sent home with your child(ren) next week. Camp will be held June 17-21, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. with a Variety Show on Friday, June 21, at 7:00 pm. This camp is for students entering grades 2-8 in the Fall. Camp fills up fast so register soon!

Ladies Salad Social

We HOPE you will join us for an unforgettable evening filled with worship, fellowship, salads, desserts, and personal stories of HOPE from our very own Amy Paglia, Taryne Russo, and Carrie Zielke. Leading up to the event, we would like to introduce you to our three speakers! This week, meet Taryne Russo. Taryne grew up in St. Charles, Illinois.  She attended Wheaton College where she studied communications and played soccer. At Wheaton, Taryne met her husband, Erik Russo. After college, Taryne worked in Chicago as an event coordinator for J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank, as well as coached women’s soccer at Wheaton College and Wheaton Academy. Currently, Taryne and Erik attend Wheaton Bible Church and reside in Wheaton with their daughter Emery (2W), and two sons, Jensen (KS) and Brooks (2 years old).

Wheaton College Soccer Camp

Registration is available for the Wheaton College Soccer Camps. Camps are being held June 10-14, June 17-21, and July 15-19. Camp is held is day from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for all K-8th Graders. This camp will be led by Wheaton College Men’s Soccer coaching staff. Come have fun and learn new soccer skills in a Christ-centered environment this summer.
