Notable Notes

Annual Meeting

Each of you is a valued stakeholder of Wheaton Christian Grammar School. As part of our community, we invite you to participate in our Annual Business Meeting. If you are a member of the Wheaton Society for Christian Instruction, we hope you will plan to attend this important event on Thursday, February 22, 7:00 p.m.

How does one become a member?

  • Review the Constitution of the Society. Article Two is the Declaration of Faith – the very core of what our school is about. Your signature on the application form will indicate your acceptance of the Declaration and will constitute your application for membership. To ensure voting privileges, new applications must be received by the Friday (February 16) preceding the Annual Business Meeting. (The application for membership can be found here or on the forms and links page under the Parents tab on our website.)

  • The Constitution, in Article Four, requires that each member contribute at least twenty-five dollars annually (or fifty dollars per couple) to the support of the school.

All school families are encouraged to prayerfully consider this important privilege and responsibility.

If you are not sure if you are a member, please contact Mrs. Joanne DeGroot at ext. 201 regarding membership.

Crossing Guard Help Needed

Many of you have seen the additional locations we have established for crossing supervision each morning and afternoon.  WCGS is hoping to hire several crossing guards for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal for some of these locations, and we need your help to find the right people for the job! We are looking for kind and conscientious individuals with great interpersonal skills to interact with our families and broader community either one day or several days each week.  Our hope is to have a team of individuals who have flexible schedules.  If you are interested in helping once a week or taking this on more permanently, we would love to connect with you.  If you or someone you know would be interested in serving in this paid position, please email Lauren Fortosis.  Our Administrators and Staff will still be a part of the crossing guard team, but a few extra individuals will help us round out the group.

Ladies Salad Social

We HOPE you will join us for an unforgettable evening filled with worship, fellowship, salads, desserts, and personal stories of HOPE from our very own Amy Paglia, Taryne Russo, and Carrie Zielke. Moms, grandmas, faculty, and staff are all welcome! Please feel free to invite a friend or simply come to enjoy an evening with other women within our WCGS community. Register now for this annual beloved event! Contact Christy at (574) 612-6661 with any questions!

Leading up to the event, we would like to introduce you to our three speakers! This week, meet Amy Paglia! Amy grew up in Bourbonnais, Illinois, the oldest of 3 girls. Between her junior and senior year of college (Taylor University) she met her husband while they were both serving as counselors at Camp Manitoqua in Frankfort, Illinois. They were engaged in 7 weeks and married after graduation on June 22, 1996. Amy worked with junior high kids at Youth for Christ in her hometown while Joe attended seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. She has been a homemaker since moving to West Chicago in August of 2001. She is super thankful to be part of the WCGS community and Mom to Meredith (3H).
