FIRST DAY PARENT WELCOME: Join us on Thursday, August 20, from 8:40 to 10:00 a.m. on the WCGS Playground Blacktop for the First Day Parent Welcome! You won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn more about all of our Auxiliary Committees; we have 18 different committees and many opportunities to serve! This year we are asking everyone to, ‘Choose 1 place to serve!’ We need everyone in the community to plug in and volunteer…where will you serve this year? Come out for the First Day Parent Welcome to ask questions, meet Committee Chairs, sign-up, and connect with the community. WCGS spirit wear and book covers for your child’s textbooks will be available for purchase, and coffee and donuts will also be served. All school families (including siblings!) are encouraged to attend. It’s truly one of our favorite events of the year and we can’t wait to see you there! Questions? Keep the Pizza Coming – Wednesday Lunch Chair Needed!
WCGS is seeking a Wednesday Hot Lunch Chair to lead our weekly Barone’s Pizza lunch. This is a meaningful opportunity to serve the school in a hands-on way. The lunch chair coordinates the weekly pizza orders, organizes and communicates with volunteers, and oversees lunch service from set-up through clean-up, with a strong team of volunteer support. This role offers a wonderful opportunity to see your kids during the school day while building relationships with WCGS parents, students, and staff each week. The Wednesday hot lunch chair is a vital role that is essential to keeping this much-loved WCGS tradition going, and we are urgently seeking someone willing to step in and lead as an individual or team. THE WCGS AUXILIARY has been a tradition at Wheaton Christian Grammar School for more than 50 years. Our purpose is to “serve God by helping to meet the spiritual, social, and practical needs of the school and its families.” Our many volunteers, in partnership with the staff and faculty, bring to life the spirit of the school, as they give their time and energy graciously with servant hearts. All school parents are welcome to be part of the Auxiliary, and the First Day Parent Welcome is a great opportunity to find your place at WCGS! FROZEN TREATS ON THE PLAYGROUND: Join us (students and siblings) right after school on the WCGS blacktop for a FREE sweet frozen treat on Friday, August 21. Mark your calendars!
SPARTAN SOCIAL: Save the date! Join us on Friday, September 11 for our Spartan Social, after school! More details next week, but you’re not going to want to miss this all-school family, fun event!
Highlights and Reminders:
FIRST TRIMESTER ORDERING INFORMATION: As we kick off the school year, the Auxiliary is excited to offer Chick-fil-A/Culver’s on Mondays, Jersey Mike’s/Augustino’s on Tuesdays, and Barone’s Pizza on Wednesdays! You will have an opportunity to order 1st Trimester hot lunch for your children beginning Thursday, August 20, and ending Thursday, August 27. The menu items you select during our first ordering window will remain the same for the entire 1st Trimester. You will have the opportunity to change your order at the beginning of each trimester. All lunch orders are placed using our EZ School App platform, but please hold off on logging into the system until the ordering window is open on Thursday, August 20. This will allow us adequate time to ensure all student and parent information is properly loaded into the system. You will also have the opportunity to order Popcorn and Sunset Slush for the year, as well as make donations toward the Junior High Special Lunches, the Staff Appreciation Fund, and the Teacher Blessing Fund. NEW FAMILY WELCOME COMMITTEE: We would like to welcome all of our new families to our Wheaton Christian Grammar School family! We are so glad you are here! Our committee strives to help our new families and students feel welcome and at ease as they make the transition to being at a new school. WCGS SPIRIT WEAR: The WCGS Spirit Wear committee has stocked up and will be selling gear at both the WCGS Open House on Wednesday, August 19, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. AND at the First Day Parent Welcome on Thursday, August 20, from 8:40 – 10:00 a.m. Don’t forget, students can wear spirit wear every day of the school year, so it’s a great time to stock up! There will be a large variety of items for sale this year. Purchasing spirit wear is a great way to help promote our school and raise funds for the WCGS Auxiliary. The money raised is used to help support the fun events we do throughout the year. We will be able to accept cash, check, or Venmo at our sales, so come ready to shop!
