Meet Gym teacher, Lauren Graham!

Up next in our faculty blog series is Gym Teacher, Lauren Graham! She is a wonderful asset to the WCGS team and her students love learning from her! Keep reading to get to know her better:

Where did you grow up and why did you want to become a teacher?

I grew up in Wheaton and have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl.  I also played sports all the time while I was growing up…therefore I believe I have the BEST job in the world- teaching kids about Jesus and how to glorify Him with our bodies!  When I’m not teaching, I enjoy coaching, spending time with family and friends, traveling to new places, and playing board games!

What made you interested in working at WCGS?

I have had many friends go through WCGS and have absolutely loved it.  It is a school that values God’s Word above all else and operates in response to that Truth–I knew that was the type of school I wanted to work at.  I so appreciate the firm foundation WCGS stands on, while giving God all the glory.

What is your favorite part of teaching Gym?

There are so many things I love about teaching PE!  I love teaching and challenging kids to work as hard as they can, no matter what the activity, as if they are working for the Lord and not for men.  I also love that it is a time for kids to run around, exercise, have a break from the classroom, learn how to compete, how to win humbly, and how to lose graciously.

How has working with students at WCGS impacted you?

I have loved working at WCGS this year.  The students are so sweet, generous, thoughtful, hard-working, and a blast to be around.  They are the best part of the job and the reason I love coming to work each day.  I have been so impressed by their sweet hearts and desire to work hard in Jesus’ name.

How have you seen God working in your students and at WCGS so far this year?

I have seen God at work in the hearts of my students in how they treat one another when things don’t go according to their plan.  I see God working in their hearts in their desire to obey and to be respectful. They also remind me of Christ’s love for us, through the love they show me each day in class.

What is the best part of celebrating the holidays (Christmas and New Year’s)?

Celebrating Christ’s birth with family and friends!  I love Christmas!  The break allows for extra time to meditate and remember what God has done for us in sending His Son to earth.  I also love this season because I get to play lots of games with my family!
