Class of 2023 Commencement

The WCGS community gathered for Commencement yesterday evening to celebrate the WCGS graduating Class of 2023! We are confident that God has used WCGS, God’s school, to build a foundation of faith in their lives.

Six 8th grade students shared about their time at WCGS, and there was a resounding theme in what they shared. Each expressed how the faculty and staff at WCGS poured into them in a way that has changed their lives. They shared about how they had been faithfully taught about Jesus and how a love for Jesus had been modeled to them daily during their time at the school.

To express their gratitude to this school community, the 8th grade class eagerly presented their class gift, one that would impact future Junior Highers and another the school as a whole.  They gifted equipment for outside of the Junior High doors to enhance the student experience and community building, and explained that a verse will be added to a wall in the Commons to intended to tangibly remind the student body to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus!

There were beautiful vocal and instrumental ensembles performed by the students before welcoming Mr. Kent Legel, School Dad and Board Member, to share the Commencement address. Kent commissioned students with three lessons God has been teaching him this year: TODAY, TRIAL, TASK.

TODAY, God will provide exactly what you need to bring Him glory and breathe life into others. Even in TRIAL, remain tethered and dependent on God. Our TASK is to be kind, strong, and courageous, so that people may know Christ and see his love through us.

He concluded by sharing “Congratulations! Knowing this class pretty well – having coached some of you and being around many others – I know you will go on and do great things for the kingdom – as Christ-centered, Critical thinkers who build Community by God’s grace and for His glory. But remember, it’s not the big things that will define your life, it is the thousands of small moments, daily life well lived, that will make the biggest impact on this world.”

We are so proud of you, Class of 2023! With each day, each trial, and each task, it is our prayer that these graduates will walk with Jesus and invite others to do the same!
