Christmas.

As we continue to move through the Advent season, be encouraged by the truth of Luke 2:10-11. “But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.” We are celebrating the good news of Christ at WCGS and are so grateful for the gift of our Savior.

Christmas Concerts.

I was beyond impressed by the Band Concert this past Tuesday and am filled with anticipation for our Orchestra Concert this evening and our Choral Concert on Tuesday. We welcome you to join us in celebrating the Christmas season through these events. May the Lord receive all the glory from these special evenings!

Time for a Trim!

I am thankful that we have an appearance code that reflects flexibility in what students are able to wear to school. Our overarching goal is that our appearance code is modest, neat, clean, and safe. One area that I would appreciate your help in is with hair, particularly with boys. I understand that styles come and go, but we have an appearance code that attempts to keep consistency in hair styles that are both neat and clean. I recognize that a longer hairstyle may be preferred by your son or by you as parents, but I would ask that you please adhere to our expectations here at school. Here are two key areas of focus:

  • Hair should not be below the eyebrows in the front
  • Hair should be off the collar in the back

The longer hairstyle is especially noticeable in the front, with hair covering the student’s eyes. Pushing the hair back or around the ears temporarily doesn’t make the hair any shorter, as I know some may use that as a “fix” to keep it long. Again, I recognize that it may be a preference, but I’d ask that you please evaluate whether your son needs a haircut in the near future so that it aligns with our school’s expectations. Thank you for your reinforcement and support at home. It is greatly appreciated!

Anxious Parents, Anxious Kids: How to Avoid Passing Down Fear/Anxiety to Your Children

SAVE THE DATE for our next WCGS Parent Series event in the new year, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.  We welcome WCGS school dad and licensed Clinical Psychologist and Executive Coach, Chris Mazzarella.  Join us as Chris walks through the conversation of stress and anxiety as a slow killer, stealing your peace, wasting your time, and limiting your potential. Sure, you can continue to distract yourself with screens, sugar, stuff, and substances but is that truly giving you the freedom and peace you and your family deserve?  Complicating matters is that your kids are watching, following your example for better or worse. Stop the cycle and learn ways to teach your kids how to break free from stress and anxiety. In this seminar, you will learn the source of your stress/anxiety, the ineffective ways you try to control it, its effects on your physical and mental health, and how to experience greater freedom from excessive and unnecessary fear, worry, and anxiety. Be kind to yourself and invest in your family’s future by attending this timely seminar. Register here.
