Update: Walk 4 Water funds build well
At the end of the school year, our 6th and 7th grade students participated in a Walk 4 Water event and raised $1,352.69 to fund 1 ½ wells in India. Now, 2 months later, a well has been built with the funds these students raised! The people of Bihar, India not only received a well that produces water for them to drink, but they also heard about the Living Water that can give them eternal life.
The Walk 4 Water event was put on by SMART2bfit, a non-profit organization started by WCGS siblings Madeline (’15) and Carter (8th grade) Cumbey when they were 9 and 6 years old. They saw a need for impoverished people to have nutritional food, as well as an education on how to grow and create healthy food. The Walk 4 Water event is one way that SMART2bfit works to help those around the world receive the nutrition they need.
We are proud of our students and their dedication to service and helping others around the world both in physical and spiritual need!
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" Matthew 25:35-40
