Wheaton Christian Grammar School offers after-school activities in addition to our athletic teams and music groups.
Grades 4-5, Year-round
Practice days are flexible during lunch and after school. Practices begin the last week of September and run through the beginning of March. Meets start in January (8 total) at the Wheaton Public Library. Students will need to read as many of the 50 books as possible and at least half before they compete in a meet.
Chess Team, Grades K-8, Tuesdays (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) OR Thursdays (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.)
*USCF Ratings >600 meet Tuesday 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.
The WCGS Chess Team is open to all interested players in grades K-8. No prior knowledge of chess is required but students new to chess should sign up for the “introduction to chess” class to be held on four consecutive days from Monday, September 11 through Thursday, September 14, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Fee: $150 for the year (plus the cost of a team shirt). Parents should note that this commitment (and fee) is for the entire school year and as with other activities requiring fees, there will be no refund after September 15.

This fun club presents a hands-on, interactive opportunity that captivates children’s interest in science and technology as they master the dynamics of teamwork and problem-solving. Students will build and test a robot. Please contact Mrs. Jacqueline Lauriat at if you have any questions.

The WCGS First Lego League Robotics Team consists of 10 students who research a real-world engineering challenge, develop a solution, and compete with LEGO-based robots of their own design. This club gives second graders a chance to write in a relaxed atmosphere. Students work on skills taught in the classroom and have fun at the same time. Club members will receive a book composed of stories contributed by each child at the end of the session.

Additional co-curricular activities include Student Council, numerous athletic teams, and many musical groups. The Jr. High musical auditions take place in January, in preparation for performances in late April.
