Wheaton Christian Grammar School enjoys full nonpublic school recognition from the Illinois State Board of Education and is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and by AdvancED (NCA CASI).  All full-time faculty are certified by both the Illinois State Board of Education and ACSI.

We began the 2017-2018 school year with 520 students.

     Grades K-5, 18.5 avg. class size
     Grades 6-8, 24.8 avg. class size

Wheaton Christian Grammar School is blessed to have an average 94% retention rate.

Winfield = 6%
St. Charles = 5%
The remaining 12% live in several dozen other communities in the western suburbs of Chicago. 

Graduate profile

There were 75 graduates in the class of 2017.

Eighty-one percent of our 2017 graduates enrolled at Wheaton Academy (Christian High School, West Chicago).

Lunch and recess

Students in grades K-2 eat lunch in their classrooms; grades 3-8 eat lunch in the Commons. 

Lunch is available for purchase on M/W/F.  Monday and Friday lunches may be ordered online up until 8 a.m. the day prior from WT Cafe, and are delivered to the school.  Wednesday is a Pizza hot lunch with signups at the beginning of each semester.   Students in grades K-5 have recess each day -- outdoors, weather permitting.  Sixth graders have recess every Wednesday.

School hours

Full-day Kindergarten: Grade 8,  8:50 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.
(Exceptions noted on school calendar.)
Half-day Kindergarten, 8:50 - Noon
Spanish (7th/8th gr.) and French (8th gr.) begin at 7:45 a.m., M/T/Th/F
Extended Care available, 7:45 - 8:40 a.m and 3:30 - 5:45 p.m. 

Office hours when school is in session: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.


Boys' and Girls' Soccer, Boys' and Girls' Basketball, Boys' and Girls' Volleyball, Coed Cross Country, and Coed Track.  WCGS participates in the Suburban West Athletic Conference.

Standardized Testing

Wheaton Christian Grammar School students have historically demonstrated very strong achievement test performance with both the Stanford Achievement Tests (used until 2011), and more recently with the TerraNova 3 (used since 2012).  Our median for 2016 was 93-8: outstanding.  Our median scores (total battery) over the past two decades have been 85-7, 86-7, or 87-7.  Most years, 65-70 percent of our students have been in the above average to superior range.
